ALERT | Storm signals, heavy rainfall warnings raised as typhoon Lando approaches

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has raised public storm signal no. 4 over Aurora province as typhoon Lando approaches the region. It was last spotted at 185 kilometers East of Baler, Aurora, packing a maximum sustained winds of 175 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph.

The weather bureau said Lando, which is expected to make landfall over Aurora area by Sunday morning. was moving slowly at 10 kph westward. Heavy to intense rains would be experienced within the 650 km diameter of the typhoon

Storm surges, Pagasa warned, may reach a maximum of three meters in Aurora and nearby provinces and up to 14 meters in open sea.
